Will Napoli Biography WillNapoli.com
|
Will Napoli attempts to be a renaissance man despite the trouble
it brings. He is a teacher, artist, entrepreneur, inventor, musician,
writer, and philosopher with 13 godchildren and a well-used van. Will
founded Earthman's Education Services Inc. (EES) in 2001 to help
with his work for NASA's Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and
Aerospace Academy (SEMAA) in Cleveland and later the FIRST LEGO
League. He also invented interplanetary calendars in July of 1985 and
has continued to develop the Interplanetary Calendar System since
then.
In 2003, Will moved into the Tower Press Building in downtown
Cleveland. As a member of the first wave of artists accepted into the
building, he founded Neopolis™: A Gallery of Fine & Folk Art, the
Tower Press Building's first art gallery. Neopolis includes The Art
Heart Books & Micromedia™, which specializes in micropress
concrete poetry and local writers. Will has since moved his
operations to midtown Cleveland and the gallery now concentrates on
his own art as Studio Neopolis™.
In 2007, Will joined the Cleveland Entertainment Coalition and its
board of directors. He soon became the secretary of the board and
the chair of the research committee. As chair he created a strategic
plan for the growth and development of the CEC. In 2008, Will
became the president of the board. In 2009, Will began creating
partnerships with other area businesses, eventually partnering with
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) initially through a student
organization, but later in a much bigger way. In 2010, John Landis
was appointed executive director of the CEC and the organization
continues to grow and develop programs and events while also
developing the talents and business skills of its members.
Will is currently developing new educational programs and seeking
partners and sponsors for these and existing programs for EES. He
is also producing new music and digitally mastering previously
recorded music for Earthman's Sound™ and releases this year.
What's new...
Earthman™ (Will Napoli) will be
presenting at the Ohio State University
Avant Writing Symposium (Aug. 19 -
21) on August 21. He will discuss his
work on the Protext Primer (now being
prepared for a sixth edition), which is a
glossary of visual poetry. He will also
discuss several organizing ideas in the
history and nomenclature of the field,
referencing articles in the vispo
magazine Opus Soup (also from
Protext Press™). Another new book to
be covered at the symposium is An
Introduction to Infocircuits and their
Uses, which educates readers in a
unique organic information handling
system that enhances self-learning.
Infocircuits were first briefly introduced
by Will at the 2003 COOL Conference
at Cleveland State University where Will
also first performed his rap act as Hot
Water™. Other avant writing works will
be briefly discussed in the presentation
at OSU and Will will be celebrating 20
years of published protext there along
with Andrew Russ who is celebrating
20 years of IZEN publications of visual
poetry.
EES is beginning its Bridge to College
program this summer by training high
school and first year college students
in the use of infocircuits for enhanced
learning. The goal is to create a self-
supporting study group and get
students in high school into Tri-C's
PSEOP program where they can take
college classes that count towards
their high school graduation as well as
college core requirements. Students
entering college now can still benefit
from the study group and infocircuit
training for better success in college.
