Earthman's Games Report
Origins 2010 (DK Turnipseed's Report):
BiSikle
When I first played BiSikle it was so fun. You got to pick a player and choose the color: blue,
green, yellow, or red. We got to take turns rolling the ball and it was tricky, but fun. I was the
first to go. It's a lot like riding in a real bicycle race.
Magic: The Gathering
Magic is really fun. It's like you're a sorcerer and you get to play your little spells and it's really
cool. I won two times. Earthman beat me like four times but I didn't fuss. I had fun yesterday. I
got my own deck of Magic cards (free to attendees) and it was cool. I got the black
planeswalkers deck. Earthman got the red deck, as in the fire deck. They made it easy to just
shuffle and play.
Axis and Allies
When I first came home I wanted to play Axis and Allies because it looked so cool, but Earthman
was cooking, so we didn't get to it. Then, when we were done eating, we opened up our Magic
decks and I forgot that we were supposed to play Axis and Allies, but it's okay cause were
gonna play it soon.
RoadZters
Zball gave people a sneak peek at their new
race game, RoadZters. It was a lot like
BiSikle, but the cars were way cooler!
Another cool difference was raised track
parts for better ramp action and harder
play. I was behind the game rep for the
whole game, but kept getting closer and
closer. I finally won with a way cool shot
through a tunnel, across the finish line,
around the rail, and past his car. It was
amazing and just like a great race car
finish!
Wits & Wagers
When I played Wits & Wagers it was so fun! We got to write on these boards and we got to
answer these questions and Earthman won!!! I couldn't believe it! It was only his first time
playing. It was so cool. I want to play that again! (It's on my Christmas list.)

report on Origins this year for the

of fun! (Earthman also filed a
report, both during the event!)
Earthman's Games Report
Origins 2010 (Earthman's Report):
BiSikle by Zball, a bike race board game using an adjustable track
as the board, was a fun and quick game. Players can choose how
many laps to play, which allows for very quick games and thus
multiple game play. A weighted ball is used to determine
position. It's tricky keeping the ball on the track, but the internal
weights help. This game was a blast and is good for all ages.
Sometimes simple is better and this is a case of just that. There
aren't a lot of tiny pieces to try to keep track of but there are
enough interesting pieces to modify the game for many
variations. This is a great game for the whole family. Look for
RoadZters, a race car version, coming out in August!
At the other end of the scale, Virtual
World's BattleTech Firestorm is very
high end. Each player sits in his or
her own pod as they battle in a
shared VR setting, controlling their
own BattleMechs, which are warrior
waldo type robots. These are
amazing. I'll be testing the Tesla II
model pods out soon!
The Tesla II test was a resounding success. The gaming
experience in these pods is fantastic. What's more, each
player's game is recorded and reviewable on screen and
print-out. The print-out breaks down the scoring and
gives a comparison with the other players. Yes, the
coolest part of this game is that it's multiplayer with as
many players as you have pods. The visual experience in
the pod is pretty good and the feeling inside the pod is a
real plus. The restarts are quick and visually wild. If
Virtual World upgrades with higher definition visuals and
rumble seats, BattleTech Firestorm will become so real it
will be military grade training!
Some attendees costumes are quite elaborate. Check out
Catwoman and the maiden. There sure is lots to see at
Origins.
Both DKT and Earthman tried out Wits & Wagers at the
NorthStarGames booth. This was another fun game for the
family that lasts as many rounds as the gamers choose to
play. It also offers insight into statistics in the way the scoring is arranged. And, it's a learning
game, which is a plus.
